iptiQ EMEA is part of Swiss Re’s Life Capital division which manages all our closed and open life & health insurance portfolios across Europe. We are a start-up, established to deliver innovative protection solutions underwritten by iptiQ Life, a retail life insurance company based in Luxembourg. Products are sold direct to consumers through Distribution Partners in a number of jurisdictions across the EU. The iptiQ EMEA Compliance Team, part of the wider Group Compliance Function, works closely with the business and external partners to ensure compliance with regulations, standards and applicab

About the role

The key objective of the Compliance Officer, is to support the Head of Compliance, iptiQ EMEA, in the identification, management and control of Compliance risks and to:

  • Provide enabling guidance to the Business with respect to compliance requirements and implementation of the Compliance Programme; this will include focus on new products, processes and distribution partnerships
  • Support regular and relevant reporting to Senior Management, the Group, local Board of Directors and regulatory/competent authorities as appropriate
  • Support development and delivery of the Annual Compliance Plan
  • Identify/monitor compliance and conduct risk drivers in order to undertake ongoing risk assessments
  • Propose changes/enhancements to control standards, mitigation strategies, policies and processes
  • Assess the possible impact of any changes in the EU/local regulatory environment
  • Review of product policyholder documentation and other related promotional material
  • Support the Head of Compliance in the investigation of Suspicious Transactions Reports
  • Support the Head of Compliance in the establishment and maintenance of an appropriate AML training programme and adequate awareness arrangements and act as a Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer
  • Design and conduct training on compliance matters in EMEA
  • Update and maintain the communication of compliance matters in the relevant databases
  • Represent the iptiQ EMEA Compliance Team at business meetings and Committees
  • Occasional travel to other Swiss Re branches/offices

About you

You are an experienced Compliance Officer who has worked in the German insurance market (ideally with retail life or health insurance products) for a minimum of 3-5 years. You will be fluent (oral and written) in both English and German.
In addition:

  • You are degree-educated (law degree preferred)
  • You are experienced in directing actions or adapting internal processes to achieve legal, regulatory and corporate governance goals and objectives
  • You have excellent knowledge of German retail insurance regulations and of the German insurance market and ideally of other EU markets
  • You have excellent knowledge of EU regulatory requirements in respect of retail insurance products
  • Ideally, you have previous experience of regulatory issues/requirements in respect of cross border insurance business
  • You have excellent knowledge of EU/German anti-money laundering and data protection regulations
  • You have strong communication skills essential with experience in drafting policies and procedures subject to Committee and Board approval
  • You have strong organisation and time management skills
  • You are able to prioritise and work within cross-functional teamwork
