Weiter in englisch.

Performance will be mainly driven by the growth of bancassurance and rising demand for health insurance, said Xing Li who was speaking at a media briefing earlier this week in which she provided a review of the Chinese insurance market in 2013 as well as its outlook for 2014.

The outlook is even more promising for the non-life insurance market which is expected to expand by 13 percent this year, the same pace as in 2013. Growth will be driven by motor business where several reforms have been introduced. These include pricing reform and the opening up of compulsory auto insurance to foreign owned insurers. At the same time, the development of catastrophe insurance in the country will provide an impetus for non-life insurance growth, the local media reported citing Mr. Xing who is based in Beijing.

In addition, she forecast that, by 2023, China will be the world’s second biggest accident and health insurance market. (vwh)
